JapaMala helps you count mantra repetitions and maintain a personal meditation practice. This policy explains what information the app stores, when it may be transmitted, and the choices available to you.
Core practice data may be stored locally on your device, including mantra selections, repetition counts, sessions, history, statistics, streaks, Sankalp goals, achievements, settings, and custom mantras. Core counting can work without an internet connection.
If you configure and use a compatible API or backup service, JapaMala may transmit profile information, mantra data, sessions, aggregates, Sankalp progress, achievements, and backup metadata to that service. Custom audio and profile images may also be uploaded when you explicitly choose those features. If no service is configured, these features do not send data to JapaMala servers.
The app may request microphone access for recording mantra audio, camera and image access for an optional profile image, notification access for reminders, and network access for optional synchronization, audio, and backup features. You can deny permissions, although related features may not work.
Information is used to provide counting, history, statistics, reminders, audio, backup, restore, synchronization, and account features that you choose to use. JapaMala does not sell personal information or use practice data for advertising.
Data is shared only with services required for an enabled feature, such as the API, backup, media storage, or authentication service configured for your installation. Review the privacy terms of any third-party service you connect to. Local exports remain under your control unless you choose to share them.
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the app, or use an in-app deletion option. Data sent to a connected service is retained according to that service's configuration. To request deletion of server-side data or an account, contact the publisher using the address below and include the account identifier you want deleted.
JapaMala is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We use reasonable safeguards for data handled by the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so do not include information you do not want stored or transmitted.
We may update this policy when the app or its services change. The effective date above will be updated when a new version is published.
